7/19/10

I traveled a lot.

I travelled over 300km in a few days to play a few gigs and I am including all the probable kilometers I walked while in work. Thursday was a great great day. I was playing in the Bernard Shaw in Dublin and I knew a few of my friends from college were coming but I had no idea that it would be a mini reunion. Of course Daragh and the others and myself talked for ages about our trip to Europe and how the Pukkelpop tickets sold out...harsh. Thankfully there was actually a bus driver on the 19route that was sound so he gave me directions because this was my first proper time being there. I wish I brought the Ibanez guitar now instead of the Eko, I had just changed the strings but thought they might have been too 'bright sounding' but probably better for the mic to pick up. Mark Verling, Megan Scott and myself all playing then others got onstage and jammed out a few songs. Fantastic.
This night rolled on with some blue friends, me nearly stealing Hugh Coonie's Pint and talking to a man with no front teeth outside of mcdonalds at 4in the morning. This man, whos name I have forgotten (really annoyed about that) was telling me the most interesting (bullshit) stories. He's a professional singer, worked for Jamie Oliver and wrote this song.
Now thats fair enough to say, but to continue on and say that your name isn't on the list of musicians because you worked for the secret service for the Queen of England is...hard to believe, but I took his word for it. He also wrote Red Red Wine by UB40 he shouted at me as I was walking away. He told me to stick at the music though and not let my possible job as bank manager get in the way of my fulfilling music career. In my head now it could very well be the solid bones of a Journey Music video.

Then back to work the next day... which went by surprisingly quickly...blue blue bluey blue. Finished at 3am and then off to Smithfield the next day for the Block T fundraiser. This place was amazing. Imagine if fight club tenants owned a loft that wasnt a loft and they were artists etc instead and they were putting on a mini festival. It was fan fucking tastic. I got to do visuals for these guys which which is what I enjoyed doing the most really, I was lucky with the videos I picked and it all seemed to flow well.

Now I'm off to Cork to see the family, camping in this weather. Fantastic.
